St Hedwigs Rectory
Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Rectory, originally built in 1848, was converted to two residential condominiums in 1997. The original sandstone lintels were replaced with granite, but otherwise the detailing of the exterior was restored consistent with the original detailing of the load bearing brick walls. Two large arched dormers were added on the fourth floor to bring light into the former attic space, which now houses the kitchen for the upper unit. The lower unit has three fire places, all restored to working order, along with the wood detailing of the original india shutters, built into the thickness of the masonry walls. The dining room boasts custom designed maple cabinets and a custom maple stair connects the lower two levels.
